| Hi again with my other guide XDDD
The Age Of Ryswick
The Axium Empire was not that much different from any other group of small city-states before it was unified by Ryswick the Great. It wasn't until Ryswick was appointed Master of the Knights that Axium began to have conflicts with neighboring countries. The Axium Knights demonstrated an amazing superiority in combat and started conquering neighboring countries one after another.
Axium's aggressive expansionist attitude began to alarm surrounding countries. They quickly formed an alliance with the military city of Tracass at its center. Though greatly outnumbering the Axium troops, the alliance was soundly defeated at the battle of Skerna Plains. All the city-states of the alliance were forced to open their gates and accept Ryswick as their leader hence forming the united Axium Empire.
The Industrial Age
Around 100 years ago, the invention of the steam engine sparked an industrial revolution in Axium. Rapid growth and radical changes were felt in almost every corner of society. Huge fortunes were quickly amassed by the merchant class. Citizens of Axium began to realize that power could be gained through capital and not just through the favoritism of the king. Gangsters proliferated and outlaws committed daring robberies with the aid of industrialized guns. The Empire teetered on the brink of chaos.
Wealthy groups of bankers, merchants and lawyers grew to have power equal to those of the noble classes. The intelligencia of Axium became divided into two groups. There was a conservative group that supported the sovereignty of the king while spurning industrial evolution. There was also a group of reformers who believed that capitalism and the development of a mechanized civilization was the only way to embrace the future.
The Start of the Republic
About 60 years ago, the Crown Prince of Barone, an extreme conservative, succeeded to the Axium throne. This led his younger brother and reformist, Whoth Poonsa Nown, to lead a group of his followers south to a region called Ilys. There they establish the Republic of Travia, with Whoth Poonsa Nown as its first President
The emergence of a republic attracted the wealthy of different regions, greatly undermining the foundation of the Empire. Finally, King Barone issued an order to arrest Whoth Poonsa Nown and his leading advisors, branding them as traitors. This action quickly escalated to war between the Empire and the Republic. An early victory was predicted for the Empire because of its sheer strength in numbers. But the Republic was armed with immense capital and the power of a science-oriented civilization making it a difficult army to defeat.
After decades of futile bloodshed, the Empire suspended its attacks on the Republic. The two countries signed an armistice. This allowed the population of both countries to enjoy a rare moment of peace.
The Age of Adventure
In the backwoods and rural regions of both countries, groups of rebels formed. They called themselves anarchist, but both the Empire and the Republic labeled them as outlaws. With no defined leaders, the number of anarchists who lived outside the law, looting and staging surprise attacks on stores, factories and small corporations, kept growing.
About this time, there emerged a mystic in the Empire who had the ear of the king. Magic had been all but forgotten by the general population after the advent of the industrial revolution. The master magician, Notrith Atrin Kiten, had been secretly studying the powers of the dark arts for decades. With dreams of reconstructing the declining Empire, Notrith Atrin Kiten accelerated his research of magic with the strong support of Barone. The army of the Empire was quietly strengthened. Backed by the military, Notrith Atrin Kiten started to suppress the anarchists of the country. The emergence of the magician and subsequent appearance of a strong military force provoked the Republic. They belatedly launched a secret study of magic and developed their own system of spells and talismans.
Gameplay
Unlike many other common games that involve shooting, GunZ has its own community-introduced gameplay styles that many people use.
Korean-Style
StrategyWiki has more information about GunZ The Duel Korean-Style Techniques
"Korean-Style," or commonly known as "K-Style", is a form of emergent gameplay based on animation and gameplay glitches. Like in several fighting games such as Street Fighter, cancelling certain character animations or doing two actions at the same time in a sequence can create complex combos. Since it's based on several programming oversights, people using the style were commonly considered to be cheating, but it was never forbidden in any of the versions. In fact, it was featured in the official 2005 trailer released on the official GunZ website.[2] Users of this style most commonly use swords due to its weight to damage ratio advantage over Kodachis.
Quest
In Quest mode, players, in a group of up to four members, go through parts of a map for a certain number of stages, which are determined by the quest level. In each stage players are required to kill masses of creatures, and the game ends when every member of the player team dies or completes all the stages.
Players can make the quests tougher and more profitable by using special quest items to increase the quest level that can be bought from the in-game store or obtained during a quest. Quest items in-game are stored in glowing chests randomly placed around the map. Players run through these to obtain an item randomly selected.
The items obtained depend on the level of the character and whatever quest items are in use. By sacrificing certain items in combination, players can enter a boss quest. These items are normally obtained through defeated monsters or through the in-game shop.
The quest system was designed to reduce the amount of time needed to prepare for boss raids that are typical in many other online games.[1]
Kill system
Levelling
Scoring kills in GunZ earns a player "bounty", which is the currency unit in the world of GunZ, and EXP, which contribute to the progression or advancement of a player's level. The amount of EXP and bounty a player receives for a kill depends on the level of the opponent defeated. The various kill animations found in GunZ: The Duel.
Kill animations In GunZ, when a player achieves a kill, they may receive one or more of five animations that appear above the player's head, along with a narration. They are "All Kill", "Unbelievable", "Excellent", "Fantastic" and "Head Shot". A player does not have to be the killer of an opponent to get the animation (i.e. they may get an "Unbelievable" animation as long as they have dealt large damage to an opponent).
Loss of EXP
By typing the command /suicide, killing oneself with their own explosives, or by falling into a bottomless pit, one is considered to have committed suicide, and will only lose EXP when having a level of more than 5.
When a player with a level of 21 or more is killed, he will lose EXP if the opponent is 10 levels lower than him. This only occurs in channels other than the Expert Channel or higher.
When a player's EXP drops to the point in which the player has less than 0% EXP for their level, it is possible to move back one level with an EXP of 99%. This means they will be able to revert back to their previous level by achieving an EXP of 1% or more.
Network system
GunZ's networking system in most parts of the game is peer to peer, unlike many online shooters. Players connect to other players through their client, instead of through a central server. However, if one player has difficulty establishing connection with another, either the error "Agent Error : Agent not available" comes up, or if network address translation (NAT) is available on the server, the player will connect through TCP/IP directly.[citations needed]
Although this works well on LANs or within relatively short distances, longer distances between players creates high latency, or lag. Because GunZ relies on the player being hit to transfer a packet back to every other player to inform their clients that they were hit, players who have slower connections are harder to kill, as any packets sent to inform the client that they are being attacked are delayed. | |

| ijji/North American edition
On November 8, 2006, the closed beta for the North American version of GunZ was released on the game portal site ijji. Upon release, the game surpassed Gunbound in players, ijji's then-most popular game, with more than 5,000 players on at any given time. Special premium items were given out if the user's account was made before a predetermined date.[3] The North American edition of GunZ: The Duel's closed beta ended on November 15, 2006.[4] The ijji/North American GunZ live service was then released on November 29, 2006. The live service included clan wars and quest mode. The premium item shop was opened on January 8, 2007.[5] Quest mode was updated on February 14th, 2007.[6] New sounds and voice narrations were added to the game on May 9, 2007.[7]
Sequel
In July 2008, MAIET signed a contract to release the sequel for GunZ, titled GunZ: The Duel 2.[8] Although it is stated not to be an entirely new game, there are significant new graphics and other changes. The sequel includes new character models, new maps, redesigned versions of the current maps, a new aiming system and much more. It is scheduled for release in Korea in the second half of 2009.[9]
